From the perspective of the development process of patrol management, we can be roughly divided into the following periods
1.The most ancient method
The most ancient guard tour management is by paper &pen recording , when security guard arrive to patrol site , he need to write down the time and sign his name at manual occurrence book. Then other data collector will collect their attendance history every week or every month .
2. Earlier time management
Since manual paper signature is very inconvenient , and data collected manually also , which is difficult for data statistics, then replaced by watchman’s clock . Security guard carry the watchman’s clock along with their rounds, when arrive to patrol site, then use the Key at station to insert into watchman clock device , watchman’s close will record the punch time automatically in a card . Supervisor collect these data by collecting these card for analyzing .This watchman’s clock is not convenient for carrying and hard to collect data.
3. Guard Patrol management in current period
These are main called as TM (Touch memory ) ibutton guard patrol system, the working principle is to put the Touch memory card in patrol site (there is integrated circuit inside of the card), security guard carry handheld patrol reader and touch with Touch memory card , handheld patrol device will supply power for that Touch memory card and read the card ID number then save into patrol device, there is clock in handheld patrol reader to record the scanning time. For data downloading : they are all collected by downloader docking station by plugging handheld patrol reader .

With the non-contact card (also called as RF card , 125kHz working frequency) development , it replaced the TM (touch memory) cards application in many area , like POS terminal，access control system , time attendance system , guard patrol system .
